ALLERGY SCREEN, ADULT
The Adult Allergy Screen is a targeted panel testing for common environmental and dietary allergens that frequently affect adults, measuring specific IgE antibodies in the blood.
Why is This Test Ordered?
- Identify Common Adult Triggers: Detects sensitivities to prevalent allergens like pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold, and common adult food items.
- Diagnose Allergic Conditions: Recommended for adults experiencing chronic allergic rhinitis, persistent coughing, watery eyes, unexplained skin breakouts, or digestive discomfort.
- Direct Treatment & Avoidance: Helps your physician tailor anti-allergy medications or suggest specific lifestyle adjustments to manage exposure.
Preparation & Fasting
- Fasting: Not required.
- Medications: Continue normal medication unless advised otherwise by your physician. Mention any ongoing steroid treatments, as high doses may influence IgE levels.
Sample Collection
- A standard blood sample drawn from a vein in your arm.
Turnaround Time
- Results are typically available within 24 to 48 hours.
